Le Petit Dotty’s

If i would describe Le Petit Dotty’s, it’s a quintessential neighbourhood cafe tucked away in a cosy strategic nook at the heart of KL city centre, yet somehow away from the hustle and bustle of KL’s notorious traffic. Looking out at the window whilst enjoying my meal, I momentarily forget that i am in fact, in Malaysia. The setting and the peaceful view of the cafe’s vicinity remind me so much of the cafes that i usually frequent back in the UK. The fact that this cafe is never crowded or noisy makes it all the more homely and welcoming.

Dotty’s, or the smaller scale Le Petit Dotty’s, are best known for their desserts, especially their signature salted egg yolk cronut that has earned a popular reputation amongst active instagrammers. Since my husband and i were famished, we decided to push aside ordering only desserts and try out their more underrated savoury selections. And it was a well rewarded deviation indeed.

Grilled Chicken Sandwich- Cajun grilled chicken breast |  Sliced avoacdos | Cheese

Anglio Olio – Shrimps | Mussels | Mushrooms | Garlic | Olive oil | Black pepper

You’d think that me, the pasta lover, would order the Anglio Olio. Let me tell you, boy i wish i had! In an attempt to be healthier, i went with the grilled chicken sandwich. Don’t get me wrong, the sandwich was indeed wholesome and scrumptious. Although a minor complaint would be the bread crust was a little too chewy. No surprise the pasta was a tad more dear to my heart for being satisfyingly filling, sinfully flavourful and having the right amount of heat without too much spiciness overwhelming the palate.

A little sweetness at the end is necessary i think to give proper closure to a good dining experience. Of course we were a little overwhelmed by the number of desserts available. However, since Faris and i have been adequately fed, we decided to go with a simple chocolate fruit tart, something small and light to share between the two of us. And no good dessert could be properly enjoyed without an accompanying cup of hot tea.
